Southern Tasmania defeated the North in the first veterans women’s cricket match ever played in Tasmania.

Southern Tasmania defeated the North in the first Veteran Women’s cricket match ever played in Tasmania.

The game, played at the recently renovated Veterans Cricket Tas headquarters ground at Ross, acted as a trial for players seeking selection in the two teams to represent the state at the now rescheduled inaugural Veteran Women’s National Championship.

Events / Calendar

Tasmania will be fielding two teams in the Australian Veteran Women's Cricket Championships in 2022. This is a first for Tasmania, with the over 40 women's group having only formed in the past twelve months and affiliated with VCTas.

The championships will run from Sunday 27 November to Thursday 1 December on grounds throughout the Barwon Region Geelong Victoria.

Anzac Day 2021 - Women’s South v North at Ross

Led by Coordinator Lynn Hendley, Tasmania has been ready to send teams to National Championships for several years, only to be blocked administratively in the first place and then by Covid related cancellations. The female game is strongest in the South but the rest of the state is closing the gap and the last inter-regional game (Anzac Day, 2022) was only determined in the last over.
